Free screenings of classic American films in Da Nang
DNO - A range of classic American films, including The Godfather and Casablanca; Charlie Chaplin's comedies; and contemporary films winning Oscars for best films, are being screened in Da Nang City during the 4th Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF) from June 28 to July 4, 2026.
Accordingly, thirteen major Hollywood films are expected to be screened free of charge as part of the "Focus on US Cinema" program at DANAFF IV, with online ticket registrations. The specific screening schedule is being announced on the DANAFF IV's website and various media platforms and social networks.
President of the Vietnam Film Development Association (VFDA) and DANAFF Director Ngo Phuong Lan affirmed that free screenings are a significant effort by all parties involved because their cost of copyright fees is so high.
Various seminars, including "Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Technology, and Intellectual Property Protection in Cinema" and "The US Cinema Industry, Successful Models, and Implications for Vietnamese films," also take place during DANAFF IV.
With the above activities, DANAFF 2026 is expected to be an opportunity for Vietnam to learn from different countries, especially the US, not only in developing the film industry but also in enhancing understanding and continuing deeper cooperation in many more fields in the future.
