Investment attraction through economic diplomacy
DNO - Da Nang has recently continued to pursue proactive and effective foreign affairs, contributing to promoting the city's image, potential, and investment environment on the international stage.

Enhancement of cooperation
As part of the cooperation between Da Nang and domestic and foreign localities and partners, the city signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) on establishing investment promotion relations with the Swiss - Asian Chamber of Commerce (SwissCham Asia) and Singularity Academy in May 2026.
In addition, a cooperation agreement was signed between Da Nang City's Management Board of the High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), Australia. The renewal of the MoU on establishing friendship and cooperation relations between Da Nang and Nagasaki Prefecture (Japan) also happened.
Reported from the Da Nang People's Committee, the city has successfully signed 11 international agreements with 9 localities, 1 organization, and 1 enterprise since early 2026.
These are namely Savannakhet, Champasak, Salavan, Sekong, and Attapeu (Laos); Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, and Daegu City (South Korea); Chemnitz City (Germany); the AED Agency for Economic Cooperation and Development (Austria); and Dentium Joint Stock Company (South Korea).
Da Nang has also established and developed regular friendship and cooperation relations with 61 localities, international organizations, and enterprises from 24 countries/territories, with 65 international agreements still in effect across various fields, including economy, trade, investment, culture, education, environment, tourism, human resource training, science and technology, and investment promotion.
In the first five months of 2026, dozens of overseas working sessions were carried out by Da Nang leaders. At the same time, the city also hosted various international delegations as well as working groups. These aimed to exchange mutual experiences and learn about investment cooperation opportunities in different sectors.
As a result, from April 21 to May 20, 2026, the city attracted $75.2 million USD in FDI capital, an eightfold increase compared to the same period in 2025. A highlight is the Aeon Mall Da Nang Hoa Xuan, with an investment capital of $192.5 million.
Expansion of an international partner network
According to the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, the Union received and worked with 54 international delegations, totaling 219 guests, in the first months of 2026. The unit also organized 15 large-scale peace and friendship events and sent its two working delegations to China and South Korea.
In addition, the Union signed cooperation agreements with 6 foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as well as implemented 17 projects, non-projects, and aid programs, as well as expanded cooperative relations with 10 new foreign NGOs, bringing the total number of partners to 39. It also established relations with several Latin American countries, such as Chile and Brazil, raising the number of cooperative ties with the Union to more than 30 countries.
In particular, Da Nang signed 10 international agreements with localities from Italy, France, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Laos, and organizations in the UAE, Germany, Switzerland, and others in 2025.
Notably, in early June 2026, Da Nang City's leaders made numerous overseas working trips to attract investment to the locality. A highlight was the trip by the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee, Nguyen Dinh Vinh, to meet with partners in Genoa, Italy.
During the meeting with Ms. Silvia Salis, Mayor of Genoa, Deputy Secretary Vinh shared many similarities between Da Nang and Genoa. He said Da Nang hoped that the Italian locality, renowned for its advanced port infrastructure and high-tech applications, will share experiences and cooperate in such spheres as marine economy, logistics services, seaports, land reclamation technology and marine sports development.

Previously, during a working visit to Finland, a delegation from Da Nang City, led by Nguyen Duc Dung, Chairman of the City People's Council, visited and worked with the government of Turku, Finland.
On that occasion, Chairman Nguyen Duc Dung proposed that the two sides strengthen experience sharing in local governance, smart city development, digital transformation, technology, innovation, and other related fields.
In early June 2026, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Le Quang Nam also made a working trip to France to study international experiences regarding planning, urban development, and transport infrastructure. The working delegation also met with the Artelia Group, one of Europe's leading consulting groups in planning, infrastructure, and urban development.
The delegation also worked with the French National Railway Corporation (SNCF) on experiences in planning, investing in, managing, and operating urban railway systems, solutions for connecting different modes of public transport, mechanisms for developing TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) areas associated with stations, and models for mobilizing resources for transport infrastructure development...
