The two officials discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation between Da Nang and Danish partners in the coming time.
At the meeting, Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung highly appreciated Ambassador Nicolai Prytz’s contributions to promoting relations between Vietnam and Denmark in general, and cooperation between Da Nang and Danish partners in particular.
He acknowledged the Ambassador’s special affection for Da Nang, noting his long-standing involvement as a member of the jury of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) and his active support for the city’s exchange and cooperation activities over the years.
Congratulating the two countries on the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Denmark (1971 - 2026), Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung emphasised that Denmark is one of Vietnam’s key partners in green growth, sustainable development and energy transition.
For Da Nang, Denmark’s experience, particularly Copenhagen’s model of green urban development, serves as a valuable reference as the city pursues a modern, smart, sustainable and people-centred development path.
The city leader expressed his hope that Ambassador Prytz would continue to support efforts to connect Danish investors, businesses and partners with Da Nang, especially in such areas as green logistics, smart ports, green infrastructure, environmental management and sustainable urban development.
He affirmed that Da Nang is committed to creating favourable conditions for Danish enterprises to explore and implement projects aligned with the city’s development orientations.
The two sides also agreed to further promote cultural exchanges and enhance mutual understanding between the peoples of the two countries through the promotion of their cultures and identities.
In this regard, the event “Da Nang - Copenhagen: A Green Journey along Han River” programme is scheduled to take place from June 20 - 22 at the APEC Sculpture Park, and some roads along the Han River.
The event is expected to help spread the message of green and sustainable development while strengthening people-to-people ties.
For his part, Ambassador Nicolai Prytz expressed his gratitude to the city’s leaders and relevant agencies for their strong support and effective cooperation with the Embassy of Denmark throughout his tenure in Vietnam.
He said he was impressed by the remarkable development achievements of Vietnam, and Da Nang in particular, especially the efforts in reform, green transition and sustainable development.
Highlighting Da Nang’s potential, Ambassador Prytz noted that the central Vietnamese city possesses many advantages to develop into a regional hub for logistics, tourism and high-quality services.
He also pointed out that Da Nang and Copenhagen share many similarities as dynamic coastal cities with strong maritime identities and green development orientations.
These common features, he said, provide a solid foundation for expanding cooperation in green transition, sustainable urban development, environmentally friendly infrastructure and improving the quality of life for residents.
On this occasion, Chairman Nguyen Manh Hung presented Ambassador Nicolai Prytz with a photograph of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival as a gesture of appreciation for his contributions to promoting the city’s image and fostering cultural exchanges between Da Nang and international partners.
