How DIFF 2026 is powering Da Nang’s summer tourism
DNO - The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2026 has emerged as a powerful source of travel inspiration for the city.

DIFF 2026: More than a fireworks festival
Widely regarded as the largest and most spectacular edition in the festival’s history, DIFF 2026 has sparked excitement across social media and online travel platforms, encouraging visitors to book flights, reserve accommodations and plan their journeys to Da Nang.
According to Nadia Shakira Wong, the Chief Executive Officer of Global2000, one of the world’s leading fireworks consulting firms, few fireworks festivals are organized with the same level of professionalism and scale as DIFF.
She noted that even the internationally renowned Montreal International Fireworks Competition in Canada, which attracts millions of visitors annually, does not feature grandstand and stage infrastructure comparable to what Da Nang has developed for its signature event.
The appeal of DIFF extends far beyond its dazzling fireworks displays. Each competing team brings a unique story to the sky, blending pyrotechnics, music and artistic creativity to deliver immersive performances filled with surprise and emotion.
These elements have become a powerful catalyst for Da Nang’s tourism industry, drawing both returning visitors and first-time travelers eager to experience the festival atmosphere.
Adding to its attraction, DIFF 2026 is complemented by a wide range of activities and experiences across the city, including at Sun World Ba Na Hills, My Khe Beach, the Marble Mountains and East Sea Park.
Together, these attractions transform the festival into a broader cultural and tourism celebration that extends well beyond the competition nights.
This year also marks the festival’s first use of AI-powered personalization through the Sun Paradise Land platform. Visitors can transform their favourite fireworks moments into vintage-style postage stamps or personalized digital postcards, creating unique keepsakes that preserve memories long after the final fireworks fade.
The initiative offers a creative new way for travelers to share their experiences while helping to showcase Da Nang’s vibrant image to audiences around the world.

The numbers behind Da Nang’s summer boom
The success of DIFF 2026 can be measured not only by the 10,000-seat grandstand filled to capacity on opening night, but also by the crowds lining the Han River, gathering on bridges and occupying every available vantage point, including the upper floors of beachfront resorts.
Together, they offered a vivid reminder of the enduring appeal of a festival that has become a defining feature of Da Nang’s summer for nearly two decades.
On May 30 alone, local accommodation establishments served an estimated 91,700 visitors, up more than 17% compared with the opening night of DIFF 2025.
International arrivals rose nearly 17%, while domestic visitors increased by more than 18%. Hotels along the Han River and the city’s coastline were almost fully booked well in advance of the event.
Da Nang also welcomed 161 flights on the same day, representing a 14% year-on-year increase. Tourist attractions across the city received an estimated 145,000 visitors, with international arrivals surging nearly 30% compared with the same period last year.
For tourism operators, these figures confirm what they have long understood: DIFF has become a powerful driver of travel demand and a key selling point in promoting Da Nang as a summer destination.
The trend is reflected in the latest Summer Travel Trends 2026 report released by Booking.com.
Based on accommodation search data for travel between June 1 and August 31, 2026, the report shows that Da Nang continues to rank among the most sought-after destinations across all traveller segments.
As always, DIFF is more than a festival. It is the beginning of a season shaped by anticipation, excitement and discovery. And for Da Nang, summer has only just begun.
