International arrivals to Vietnam Reach new record in first five months of 2026
DNO - Vietnam welcomed a record 10.6 million international visitors in the first five months of 2026, up nearly 15% year-on-year and marking the highest five-month total ever recorded by the country’s tourism industry.

According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, international arrivals in May were estimated at 1.78 million, up nearly 17% year-on-year.
Of the 10.6 million arrivals recorded in the first five months of 2026, 82.3% arrived by air, 15.8% by land, and 1.9% by sea, with land arrivals posting the fastest growth.
The increase in visitors continued to boost tourism services, with accommodation and food service revenue reaching an estimated VND400.4 trillion, up 13.3% from a year earlier. Localities recording strong growth included An Giang Province, Ninh Binh Province, Da Nang City, Hue City, and Quang Ninh Province.
Travel service revenue totaled an estimated VND 40.6 trillion in the first five months of 2026, up 12.2% year-on-year, with strong growth recorded in Khanh Hoa Province, Quang Ninh Province, Quang Ngai Province, Hue City, and Hai Phong City.
Among source markets, Russia recorded the strongest growth in arrivals to Vietnam, up 194% year-on-year, followed by the Philippines with a 71% increase. The Philippines entered Vietnam’s top 10 inbound markets for the first time, supported by expanding air links and tourism cooperation.
According to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism, Vietnam’s strong tourism growth reflects its reputation as a safe and stable destination, supported by diverse attractions, rich cultural heritage, competitive travel costs, and expanded visa policies.
The record 10.6 million international arrivals in the first five months of 2026 underscore Vietnam’s position as one of Asia’s fastest-growing tourism destinations.
