Da Nang boosts Chinese tourist arrivals through Xiaohongshu and social media

DNO - Da Nang is making efforts to attract more Chinese tourists by leveraging Xiaohongshu and social media platforms.

A seminar titled “Accessing Chinese Tourist Market through Xiaohongshu and Social Media” was held in Da Nang on Friday.

The event was organized by the Tourism Promotion Center under the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with Xiaohongshu, Blue Media, and Z Creative Partners Vietnam.

According to statistics, China is currently one of Da Nang’s key international tourist sources.

In 2025, the city welcomed over 565,000 Chinese visitors, up 48% compared to the previous year, ranking second in its top 10 international markets.

In the first five months of 2026, the number of Chinese visitors to the city is estimated to reach over 320,000, continuing its high growth momentum.

Speaking at the seminar, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the city is focusing on innovating its promotional activities towards digitalization.

In particular, Da Nang is paying attention to strengthening its presence on social media platforms and providing strong connections with media partners and tourism businesses in China.

At the same time, the city is implementing policies to attract KOLs (Key Opinion Leaders) and KOCs (Key Opinion Consumers) to enhance the effectiveness of destination promotion and keep pace with rapidly changing media and travel trends.

To further improve access to the Chinese market, representatives from management agencies, travel firms, accommodation providers, airlines, and international marketing experts engaged in in-depth discussions on digital communication trends in China.

Key topics included the role of the Xiaohongshu platform in the process of searching for information and making travel decisions, service booking behaviors through online travel agencies (OTAs), and solutions for building suitable marketing ecosystems for Da Nang businesses.

The seminar also provided a foundation for agencies and enterprises to better understand the role of social media platforms in shaping tourist behavior.

This opened up more opportunities for cooperation and enhanced the effectiveness of promoting Da Nang as an attractive destination among Chinese travelers in the near future.
