Da Nang to pilot Ban Co Peak tea tour inspired by Bill Gates's visit
DNO - Authorities in Da Nang are calling for organizations and businesses to develop a pilot tea appreciation tour at the Ban Co (Chess Board) Peak on the Son Tra Peninsula, Da Nang, following growing interest sparked by an American billionaire Bill Gates' visit in 2024.

The Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches has recently announced an open call for individuals, organizations and enterprises to register for participation in the pilot tea experience program at the Ban Co Peak.
The initiative aims to diversify eco-tourism products, enhance visitor experiences, and gradually develop high-quality services associated with the peninsula’s natural landscape.
Organizations, individuals, and businesses operating in the tourism, cultural, and culinary sectors are eligible to apply. The application period is expected to remain open through May 30.
The management board also encourages participating entities to develop creative and environmentally friendly service models that align with the natural landscape and tourism development orientation of the Son Tra Peninsula.
According to the management board, the tea experience model is designed as an eco-friendly, relaxing and private experience targeting high-end travelers.
The tea experience activities are expected to take place during morning and afternoon sessions, allowing visitors to watch the sunrise and sunset. Depending on weather conditions, the schedule may be adjusted.
The tea area will be arranged near the statue of the Fairy Chess Player, a well-known check-in destination at the Ban Co Peak.
The idea for the tea experience at the Ban Co Peak was inspired by billionaire Bill Gates’ visit to the area in March 2024.
Following the visit by Bill Gates, the Ban Co Peak has drawn increased attention from both domestic and international tourists. The unique experience has sparked curiosity, with many visitors expressing interest in enjoying a similar activity.
Located about 700 meters above sea level, the Ban Co Peak is the highest point of the Son Tra Peninsula and is often referred to as the “roof” of Da Nang.
From the summit, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the city and coastline, while the winding road leading to the peak remains a popular route for those exploring the peninsula.
