Strengthening Da Nang - Sekong cooperation
DNO - A delegation from Da Nang City and officials from Sekong Province (Laos) jointly held a meeting on May 6. The meeting discussed traffic regulation and immigration management at the Nam Giang - Dakta Ok International Border Gates during the upgrade of National Highway 14D.

According to Vietnam News Agency (TTXVN), the meeting was co-chaired by Thieu Viet Dung, Deputy Head of the Chu Lai Open Economic Zone Authority, and Khamhou Onmani, Director of the Sekong Provincial Department of Finance, with representatives from relevant agencies of both sides in attendance.
At the meeting, the two sides exchanged reports and discussed plans related to traffic flow management, customs procedures, and immigration activities for citizens and vehicles crossing the Nam Giang - Dakta Ok International Border Gates.

The discussions focused on coordination during the expansion and upgrading of National Highway 14D, which connects the Ho Chi Minh Highway in Ben Giang to the Nam Giang International Border Gate. Da Nang also proposed that the Sekong Province study plans to upgrade National Highway 16B from the Dakta Ok Border Gate to the provincial centre of Sekong.
Both sides agreed that traffic management measures must not disrupt cargo transportation during the construction period. Temporary bypass roads and one-way traffic arrangements will be implemented to ensure safety and smooth circulation.

The meeting emphasised that traffic regulation and vehicle management should be carried out flexibly in accordance with actual conditions at the border, based on the principles of mutual respect, equality, solidarity, and friendship.
Sekong Province pledged to closely coordinate with Da Nang to maintain order and ensure uninterrupted customs clearance and immigration procedures throughout the 2026 - 2027 construction period.
The two sides also agreed to assign the Management Board of Nam Giang International Border Gate, together with border guard, customs, and related agencies, to coordinate directly with authorities at Dakta Ok International Border Gate in Laos on traffic management and information sharing.

At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of Da Nang and Sekong signed a Memorandum of Understanding that formalised the cooperation framework between the two localities.
