Da Nang emerges as rising destination for global digital nomads
DNO - The central city of Da Nang in Vietnam is emerging as an attractive destination for the global digital nomad community, gradually competing with established hubs like Chiang Mai in Thailand and Bali in Indonesia.

Reporting on May 3, Le Courrier International noted that Da Nang continues to attract a rising number of location-independent professionals.
Its appeal lies in a combination of favorable living environment, relatively low living costs and a well-developed tourism ecosystem, with most foreign visitors entering under Vietnam’s three-month e-visa policy.
Once dubbed the “Miami of Vietnam” by The New York Times in 2019 and included in a list of 52 must-visit destinations, Da Nang stands out with its 32-kilometer coastline, modern resorts, and a vibrant scene of seafood restaurants and bars.
Recently, the city has remained in the spotlight with the launch of new upscale hotel projects as Vietnam expands and extends visa exemption policies for citizens of several countries to boost tourism.
Promotional activities aimed at attracting more digital nomads have also been intensified, notably through a number of events such as Da Nang Nomad Fest held in March.
In addition, domestic media have frequently reported on the increasing presence of this workforce in the city, reflecting Da Nang's growing appeal amid the strong global remote working trend.
According to Ms. Hana Nguyen, founder of a co-working space in Da Nang, digital nomads bring practical benefits by creating jobs for Vietnamese workers in such fields as graphic design, translation, and virtual assistance. Many also tend to hire local services, thereby contributing to the local economy.
Meanwhile, Mr. Daniel Schlagwein of Chulalongkorn University noted that that local residents tend to view digital nomads more positively than short-term tourists, citing their longer stays, more integrated lifestyles and steady spending as factors contributing to more sustainable economic benefits.
