Da Nang City advances smart traffic development in Tam Ky
DNO - On April 20, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Tran Nam Hung chaired a meeting with the United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and relevant departments to discuss a smart traffic project in Tam Ky.

According to a report presented at the meeting, in late 2024, the former Quang Nam provincial People’s Committee approved a technical assistance project for the development of smart urban infrastructure in Tam Ky City, funded by USTDA.
The project aims to enhance Tam Ky’s urban management capacity by providing analyses across technical, financial, economic, environmental, and development aspects necessary for building smart infrastructure.
A key focus is the development of smart LED street lighting infrastructure integrated with intelligent control applications. The system is expected to improve energy efficiency, reduce air pollution, enhance public safety, and support local economic growth.
The project has a total investment of more than USD 1 million, including USD 973,392 in non-refundable official development assistance from USTDA and approximately USD 31,089 in counterpart funding from the former Tam Ky municipal People’s Committee.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman Tran Nam Hung said that changes in urban planning and development have affected the project timeline, preventing implementation as originally scheduled.
However, despite administrative and planning adjustments, the project remains a key component of the city’s smart urban development roadmap, contributing to the modernisation of transport infrastructure and improving residents’ quality of life.
The city has assigned the Department of Finance to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and related agencies on implementation matters, while the Office of the People’s Committee will advise on necessary adjustments to align the project with current conditions and overall urban planning.
