Da Nang works to become Vietnam’s top three hubs for semiconductor design and AI by 2030
DNO - Since the beginning of 2026, Da Nang has been accelerating its pace in the technology race, with the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors continuing to record positive strides.
One of the most notable achievements is Da Nang's continuous hosting of large-scale international scientific conferences.
Notably, the 11th International Conference on Intelligent Information Technology (ICIIT 2026) brought together 160 delegates, including 100 scholars and 60 business representatives from 14 countries.
The conference showcased a wide range of studies on AI, intelligent systems, the Internet of Things, and modern data, with a strong emphasis on the practical application of AI in business operations to generate measurable value.
Earlier, the International Conference on Semiconductor (ICOS) 2026, held from January 5 to 7 in the city, attracted more than 300 scientists, experts, and business representatives from around the world, including the Korean Institute of Semiconductor Engineers (ISE). This marked the first in-depth international semiconductor conference to be held in central Vietnam and the country as a whole.
Besides international conferences, the city has actively worked with major organizations, corporations, and partners to advance cooperation in semiconductor and AI development. Key partners include Qorvo, Marvell, Synopsys, Arizona State University (the United States), Alchip (China), Silla System and Above Semi (South Korea), Trumplin and Optimitech (Russia), and the Fraunhofer Institute for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS (Germany).
Da Nang has also strengthened ties with international localities such as Yongin and Daegu (South Korea), and Chemnitz (Germany), further promoting collaboration in semiconductors and AI.
The city has set a clear goal of becoming one of top three centers in the country for semiconductor design and AI applications by 2030, while also positioning itself as an innovation hub for the central region.
In addition to expanding partnerships, the municipal government has focused on refining mechanisms and policies to support businesses. Notably, it has introduced incentive policies for strategic partners in the semiconductor and AI sectors, with FPT Corporation being the first to benefit.
Beyond its role as a strategic partner, FPT is expected to help lead the development of the local semiconductor and AI ecosystem, thereby contributing to attracting more international investors.
In fact, FPT has operated a semiconductor chip research and development (R&D) center at the Software Park No. 2 since 2025 and has exported “Make in Vietnam” chip products to Japan, a market known for its stringent standards. This not only underscores the technological capabilities of Vietnamese enterprises but also highlights the growth potential of Da Nang’s semiconductor industry.
Furthermore, the city has rolled out many strong incentives such as tax exemptions and reductions for businesses and experts, non-refundable support of up to VND 1 billion for startups, and free space allocation in innovation spaces.
Currently, 17 businesses in the semiconductor and AI sectors have been recognized as eligible for incentives, while 38 startup projects have received infrastructure support.
Human resource development has also been prioritized, with policies to support specialized training, attract top experts, and facilitate the transition of engineers into AI and semiconductor fields.
Currently, the city continues to refine specific mechanisms to create a more conducive environment for science and technology development in the years ahead.
