Bringing the “Ao Dai” and conical hat to the world

Vietnamese cultural symbols, including the elegant “ao dai” and the iconic conical hat, are creatively woven into these narratives.

Whether featured in local settings or brought along on international journeys, these images act as cultural bridges, helping global audiences better understand Vietnam’s identity.

They reflect a sense of pride and a desire to share cultural heritage with the world in a natural and engaging way.

For the past five years, Mac Hoang Y Linh (36), a resident of Thanh Khe District in Da Nang has shared the cultural stories of Da Nang in particular, and Vietnam as a whole, with the world.

Along with this, Linh has also developed a creative idea to bring traditional Vietnamese symbols, such as the conical hat and the elegant “ao dai”, on her trips abroad.

By incorporating these cultural elements into her content, she introduces international audiences to Vietnam in a visually engaging and meaningful way. These simple yet powerful images help bridge cultural gaps and spark curiosity about the country.

Bui Ngoc Cong explores remote areas rich in cultural depth in Viet Nam

Through short videos, travel vlogs and carefully curated images, creators are introducing Da Nang to the world in a fresh and relatable way.

Their content captures simple yet meaningful moments: the quiet sunrise over My Khe Beach, the gentle flow of the Han River, or the vibrant energy of coastal roads, together allowing viewers to feel the rhythm of the city even from afar.

What makes these stories especially powerful is their authenticity. They explore traditional craft villages, rural outskirts, and even the daily lives of ethnic communities such as the Co Tu people in nearby mountainous areas.

The rise of social media has transformed how destinations like Da Nang are promoted. In spite of lasting only a few minutes long, a single short video can reach thousands or even millions of viewers.

Many international travellers now say they discovered Da Nang not through advertisements, but through heartfelt content created by individuals.

Bui Ngoc Cong (28), from Thang Binh, is part of a new generation of Vietnamese content creators using digital platforms to share the beauty, culture and everyday life of Vietnam with a wider audience.

Operating under the name “Blog cua Rot,” Cong is active across three major social media platforms, where he has built a strong following: 175,000 followers on Facebook, 224,000 on TikTok, and 122,000 on Instagram.

Through these channels, he tells stories that go beyond typical travel content, offering viewers a deeper and more personal look at the places he visits.

What sets Cong apart is his commitment to exploring remote areas rich in cultural depth. He invests time and effort in traveling to less-visited destinations, where traditions, local lifestyles and unique identities are still preserved.

In 2025, his efforts were recognized when he won third prize in the Vietnam tourism content creation contest “Di de yeu” (Travel to Love) on YouTube Shorts, organized by the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

For Cong, content creation is about capturing meaningful moments and conveying the cultural richness of Vietnam in a way that resonates with audiences. Through his work, he contributes to bringing Vietnam closer to the world, one story at a time.

In an increasingly competitive global tourism landscape, these small yet meaningful stories shared by young creators have become a powerful form of “soft promotion”.

'They are, in many ways, cultural ambassadors connecting Da Nang with the world through creativity, sincerity and passion.
