A “Western-style” space in the heart of Da Nang

In recent years, the An Thuong Tourist Quarter has been increasingly bustling, especially in the late afternoon and evening. Many foreign tourists, along with expatriates living and working in Da Nang, come here to meet, socialize, and chat, forming a small "international community”. Meanwhile, Vietnamese visitors are drawn to its modern space where a blend of Asian and European styles creates a unique and diverse experience.

A distinctive feature of An Thuong is its lively yet not overly chaotic nightlife scene. Bars and pubs glow with colorful lights while maintaining a relatively relaxed ambiance.

Beyond enjoying a wide range of Asian and European dishes, visitors can also savor local specialties such as ‘banh bot loc’ (tapioca dumplings), Quang noodles, ‘bun bo Hue’ (Hue-style beef noodle soup), ‘banh xeo’ (Vietnamese pancakes), and ‘banh mi’.

In addition, the area is further enlivened by lively music programs and street dance events performed along key streets, adding to its appeal for visitors.

Arona, a tourist from Russia, shared “It is rare to find a tourist street as wonderful as An Thuong. It is not as noisy as other crowded foreigner areas. It feels modern yet still carries the rustic breath of the sea. I love the feeling of surfing in the morning, strolling along the beach at sunrise, and enjoying a great European-style dinner right on the same street”.

Synchronized solutions carried out to enhance appeal

To transform the area into a unique tourism destination, Da Nang approved the An Thuong Tourist Street development plan in 2018. The former Ngu Hanh Son District was assigned to invest nearly VND 60 billion in upgrading infrastructure within the quadrilateral bounded by Vo Nguyen Giap, Hoang Ke Viem, Chau Thi Vinh Te, and Ngo Thi Si streets, as well as promoting the night-time economy and cultural, artistic, and entertainment activities.

In 2025, the city continued to pour approximately VND 105 billion into the expansion of the An Thuong Tourist Street in Phase 2, with completion expected by 2027.

The project aims to establish a bustling coastal tourism and entertainment complex. A key highlight of this phase is the construction of a central square integrated with sports and recreational facilities, featuring an outdoor stage and a water music plaza, creating a vibrant community space for both residents and visitors to gather, relax, and attend cultural and artistic events.

Notably, the entire area will be equipped with technical infrastructure for a future security camera system and public Wi-Fi, meeting connectivity needs while ensuring safety and order.

The city also plans to install branded signage for the pedestrian zone, helping to establish a distinct identity for An Thuong Tourist Quarter.

“The investment in infrastructure for An Thuong Tourist Quarter plays a crucial role in improving service quality, expanding cultural space, and enhancing its attractiveness to both domestic and international visitors” said Mr. Nguyen Hoa, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ngu Hanh Son Ward.
