Nearly 40,000 people in Da Nang join “Olympic Run Day 2026”
DNO - A total of 38,350 people across Da Nang joined the “Olympic Run Day 2026 - For the Health of All People - For National Security” on Sunday.

The event celebrated the 80th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day and the day President Ho Chi Minh wrote the article “Health and Physical Exercise” (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2026), the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2026), and the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26, 1931 - March 26, 2026).

In her opening speech, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi emphasized that this year’s “Olympic Run Day - For Public Health - For National Security” was a practical activity following President Ho Chi Minh’s teachings, and further promoted the campaign “All People Exercise Following the Example of Great Uncle Ho”.

She noted that the event will become an annual tradition in the city, attracting widespread public participation and fostering a strong running movement.
The initiative aims to raise awareness of the benefits of physical exercise, improve public health, enhance physical fitness and stature, contribute to disaster and disease prevention, strengthen willpower, and ensure social welfare.


At the same time, it helps build a cultured lifestyle and a sense of responsibility among citizens in contributing to the construction and protection of the nation.
At the launch ceremony, 6,850 participants joined at the central city venue, while 31,500 people took part across communes and wards (excluding Hoa Cuong and Hai Chau wards), bringing the total number of participants citywide to 38,350.
