Enhancing Da Nang's appeal through sports activities
DNO - Da Nang has been effectively promoting its image and enhancing its appeal as a dynamic and attractive destination through national and international-scale sports events.

In 2026, the city is intensifying the organization of large-scale sports events which require close coordination among units and localities, along with great efforts to further enhance the city's professionalism in each event it hosts.
According to statistics from the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Da Nang welcomes millions of visitors each year through sports-related activities. The figure has steadily increased, reaching a record of over 5 million visitors in 2025 thanks to a series of major sporting events. Athletes coming to Da Nang not only compete but also stay longer to explore the city, shop and travel, thereby contributing to boosting the local economic growth.
During his first visit to Da Nang for the PPA Tour Asia - MB Vietnam Cup 2025, world-class American tennis player Ben Johns shared that he spent time exploring the city and was impressed by the charm of this beautiful coastal destination. He expressed hope to return to the city in the future through other exciting tournaments in the PPA Tour Asia series.
In reality, Da Nang’s efforts to host large-scale sporting events have yielded positive results, positioning the city as a dynamic and appealing destination while simultaneously promoting tourism, economic growth and sports development.
The year 2026 promises to see an even greater surge of sporting events across the city. The municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism aims to attract more than 5 million visitors through major events such as the Da Nang International Marathon, the IRONMAN Triathlon, the Pickleball PPA Tour Asia - Vietnam Cup 2026, and the World Football Legends festival.
According to Mr. Tao Viet Hai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, national and international sporting events hosted by the city have consistently been successful and left strong impressions. This also poses a significant challenge in maintaining professionalism and expanding the scale of these events each year to create an even greater impact.
Mr. Hai emphasized that, to ensure the success of sporting events and tournaments in 2026, the city will work closely with agencies and localities in preparation and organization. Collaboration among different units provides additional resources to organize the most professional events possible. This is also a common trend in developing sports through socialization.
He added the collaboration will contribute to boosting tourism and services, generating revenue for the state budget, increasing income for businesses and local communities, creating opportunities for international exchange and cooperation, and enhancing the city’s reputation and image.
