Creating new investment appeal
DNO - The Chu Lai Open Economic Zone leverages its competitive advantages to attract investment, while Da Nang City clarifies zoning plans to draw strategic investors.

Southern growth engine
The Chu Lai Open Economic Zone is a coastal multi-sector hub integrating urban development with industries including automobiles, aviation, gas-to-power, petrochemicals, textiles, high-tech manufacturing, organic agriculture, and tourism linked to Chu Lai airport and the Chu Lai-Ky Ha port system.
It also serves as a trade gateway connecting the East Sea with southern Laos, northeastern Cambodia and Thailand.
Covering 27,040 hectares with synchronised infrastructure, Chu Lai airport is planned as a 4F international airport handling 10 million passengers annually by 2030, alongside the development of an air logistics hub, flight training centre, and an aircraft maintenance and repair centre.
The seaport-logistics network features a 140-hectare logistics port complex, Chu Lai Port (836m, 30,000 DWT) and Ky Ha port (7,000 DWT), supported by major road and rail corridors.
The zone has attracted 237 projects worth about VND 93.5 trillion, including 63 FDI projects. Fourteen industrial parks (3,462 ha) have been established, seven already operating with occupancy above 59%.

With multimodal transport and large clean land reserves, Chu Lai is emerging as a key regional growth driver, supporting the city’s double-digit economic expansion target.
New investment highlights
The Chu Lai Economic Zone Authority has submitted three sub-zone master plans to the Da Nang City People’s Committee, including the 538.5-hectare Northwest Chu Lai airport urban area planned for 35,000 residents as a Class-II urban zone, an airport-linked non-tariff zone focused on high-tech manufacturing, smart automation and export processing, and the Thang Binh high-tech industrial park featuring production clusters, R&D-training centres and startup incubation.

The city's authorities emphasise reviewing the overall master plan to clearly define these functional zones in alignment with airport development, transport connectivity and social infrastructure to enhance investment conditions.
The plans follow the approved Chu Lai master plan to 2035 with a vision to 2050 under Decision No. 1737/QĐ-TTg (2018). Da Nang is seeking appraisal and ratification as a foundation for attracting large-scale investment.
