Da Nang welcomes first foreign tourists of Lunar New Year 2026
DNO - Da Nang held a ceremony on Tuesday morning (the first day of the Lunar New Year 2026) to welcome the first international visitors to the city during the Lunar New Year or Tet 2026.

At Da Nang International Airport, the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in coordination with some relevant units, organized a welcome ceremony for flight FD634 from Bangkok, Thailand, bringing more than 200 visitors to the city for sightseeing and leisure.

The welcoming activities were vibrant and festive, featuring drum performances, lion and dragon dances, and gifts of conical hats, lanterns, coffee, coconut cakes, and lucky money envelopes. Five lucky passengers were also presented with flowers, souvenirs, and service experience vouchers in Da Nang.

At the same time, at the park on the southern side of the western bank of the Dragon Bridge in Hai Chau Ward, a series of Tet-themed experiential activities for international visitors took place. Included were lion dances, the traditional spring bud picking for good luck at the beginning of the year, check-ins along flower streets, folk games, and local cuisine tastings.
The program welcomed more than 300 domestic and international tourists from travel companies, along with a large number of independent travelers, creating a warm and memorable spring atmosphere from the first day of the lunar new year.

According to Da Nang International Airport, Chu Lai Airport, and Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC, during the Tet holiday (from February 14 - 22), the total number of flights arriving in Da Nang is estimated to exceed 1,500, an increase of more than 400 flights (equivalent to 36%) compared to the Lunar New Year 2025. The average frequency is expected to reach 173 flights per day, an estimated rise of 46 flights per day against 2025.
Of these, domestic routes are projected at 829 flights, up 27%, serving approximately 125,000 passengers. International routes are estimated at 732 flights, up 47%, expected to welcome around 130,000 passengers.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tan Van Vuong said the number of international visitor arrivals to Da Nang during the holiday is expected to increase by about 25% compared to last year.
The simultaneous organization of activities at the aviation gateway and in the city center demonstrates the proactive and professional approach of the tourism industry in enhancing the destination experience.
In 2026, the city's tourism industry will continue to focus on market expansion, product renewal, service quality improvement, and building a distinctive and culturally rich image of Da Nang with the orientation of "Return to the Origin".
