Da Nang welcomes 200 overseas Vietnamese home for Lunar New Year 2026 holiday
DNO - Da Nang on February 11 hosted a Spring reunion for 200 overseas Vietnamese returning home to celebrate the traditional Vietnamese Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026 holiday, reaffirming the city’s commitment to strengthening ties with its global community.
The gathering was jointly organised by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang, the municipal Department of Foreign Affairs, and the Da Nang Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese.
Attendees included Party Central Committee Member, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Pham Duc An; Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh and representatives of local departments and organizations; and overseas Vietnamese from various countries.
Addressing the event, Chairman Pham Duc An briefed participants on the city’s socio-economic achievements in 2025.
He stressed that the progress was driven not only by the Vietnamese Government’s guidance and the unity and determination of the Da Nang Party organization, authorities and residents, but also by the meaningful contributions of overseas Vietnamese and Da Nang natives living and working across Viet Nam.
Expressing sincere gratitude, the Chairman acknowledged the continued support and strong attachment of overseas Vietnamese to their hometown.
In 2026, Da Nang will further promote innovation and development aspirations, striving to build a modern, smart and livable city and to strengthen its position as a major socio-economic centre of the Central - Central Highlands region and the whole country.
Overseas Vietnamese, with their expertise, experience, financial resources and international networks, remain a vital resource for the city’s growth and serve as ambassadors promoting Da Nang to friends at home and abroad.
The municipal government pledged to improve the investment and business environment, actively listen to overseas Vietnamese feedback and create favourable conditions for cooperation, investment and long-term engagement.
Ms Le Thi Thai Thanh, the Chairwoman of the Da Nang Association for Liaison with Overseas Vietnamese, representing overseas Vietnamese living and working abroad, expressed her delight at the city’s strong and dynamic development in recent years.
She also affirmed that overseas Vietnamese always look toward their homeland with a deep sense of attachment and a strong desire to contribute their knowledge, dedication and resources to the country’s overall development.
At the meeting, Da Nang’s leaders introduced new policies designed to support overseas Vietnamese in investing in the city, purchasing homes, transferring funds through legal channels, and participating in educational projects.
The event also featured a Vietnamese Tet cultural exhibition space, showcasing traditional five-fruit trays, calligraphy, “ao dai” (traditional costume of Vietnam), folk music performances, and distinctive souvenirs, including handicrafts, OCOP products, and paintings.
In addition, a dialogue forum was held to exchange views and listen to the opinions and aspirations of overseas Vietnamese.
