City leaders receive the new Consul General of Laos in Da Nang

DNO - On January 30, Le Ngoc Quang, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee, received the newly appointed Lao Consul General Vonekham Cheuangmanivong during a courtesy visit and Lunar New Year greeting.

At the reception, Party Secretary Le Ngoc Quang congratulated Consul General Vonekham Cheuangmanivong on her new post and outlined Da Nang’s development priorities, including strategic infrastructure investment, especially East - West transport corridors, to enhance connectivity with Lao localities.

Da Nang reaffirmed its commitment to hosting Lao students with full scholarships and supporting cooperation projects in healthcare, education, and digital transformation.

Le Ngoc Quang emphasised the city’s continued priority in strengthening ties with Lao partners, contributing to the deepening of the Vietnam - Laos special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation in the new phase.

Vonekham Cheuangmanivong thanked Da Nang for the warm reception and highlighted the strong cooperation between Da Nang and Southern and Central Lao provinces.

Currently, about 2,000 Lao students are studying in Da Nang, which reflects the city's strong commitment, practical support, and enduring solidarity with Lao localities.

She also affirmed her commitment to promoting high-level exchanges and strengthening her role as a bridge between Lao localities and Da Nang in the coming period.

At a separate reception hosted by Vice Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Nam Hung on the same afternoon, it was noted that the former Quang Nam Province and Da Nang City had maintained close and effective cooperation with Southern and Central Lao provinces.

Da Nang will continue and strengthen these ties following the administrative merger, ensuring the coordinated and effective implementation of existing agreements.

Vonekham Cheuangmanivong thanked for the city's warm reception and reported on the successful congress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, emphasising that it serves as a basis for enhancing cooperation between Lao localities and Da Nang.

Earlier, Vonekham Cheuangmanivong paid a courtesy visit and extended New Year greetings to leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) of Da Nang City.

At the meeting, Nguyen Phi Hung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam FFC of Da Nang City, affirmed continued coordination with counterparts in southern and central Laos to promote people-to-people exchanges and cooperation activities, contributing to stronger Vietnam - Laos solidarity in the new phase.

On the occasion of Lunar New Year 2026, Vonekham Cheuangmanivong extended her best wishes to the city’s leaders and people of Da Nang.
