Green, smart vision reshapes Da Nang Port’s future
DNO - The Da Nang Port is expanding infrastructure in tandem with advancing green and digital transformation, aiming to develop a smart, green port model aligned with the logistics strategy of Central Vietnam.
Shift towards green
In 2025, the Da Nang Port recorded strong operational and financial performance. Total cargo throughput rose 10.29% year on year, reaching 102.48% of the annual plan, while container volume increased by 11.13% to 105.87% of the target. Total revenue reached VND1.705 trillion, up 14.19%, and pre-tax profit climbed 22.62% to VND460.19 billion, exceeding the planned target by more than 9%.
Building on this momentum, the Da Nang Port has set ambitious goals for 2026. The port aims to handle 16.775 million tonnes of cargo and 905,140 TEUs, with projected revenue of VND 1.86 trillion and pre-tax profit of VND518 billion.
Infrastructure expansion, green transition and digital transformation form the port’s core development pillars, with digitalization driving gains in management quality and operational efficiency.
By applying information technology to operations, cargo monitoring, customer services and data integration, the port has optimized workflows, shortened turnaround times, boosted cargo-handling productivity and strengthened transparency.
In parallel, Da Nang Port has been gradually investing in modern, environmentally friendly equipment, reorganizing operational space, improving energy efficiency and strengthening emissions control.
Green port standards are now a competitive necessity. By aligning with sustainability-driven supply chains, Da Nang Port is emerging as a forward-looking logistics hub in central Vietnam.
Linkage of Da Nang and Chu Lai ports
The linkage between Da Nang Port and Chu Lai Port helps expand operational space, rationally distribute cargo flows and ease infrastructure pressure in the urban core, while better leveraging the respective strengths of each port within the regional logistics chain.
Within this structure, Da Nang Port is positioned as a comprehensive port and international logistics hub for the region. It serves as a key gateway for maritime routes, provides value-added logistics services and connects with major distribution centers and global shipping networks.
Chu Lai Port, benefiting from its close integration with industrial zones, economic zones and large-scale production centers, plays a critical role in handling and transshipping industrial cargo, particularly export goods from central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
This linkage is aimed at forming a logistics corridor with stronger regional competitiveness. By organizing cargo flows more efficiently, controlling logistics costs and shortening transit times, the combined port system enhances its ability to attract shipping lines and logistics investors, thereby strengthening the overall position of the central region within national and regional supply chains.
More importantly, the Da Nang–Chu Lai logistics corridor, developed along green and smart principles, will help realize the orientation toward sustainable marine economic development, creating a foundation for central Vietnam to integrate more deeply into global supply chains in the new context.
