Da Nang City engages global investors in Switzerland

DNO - On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Da Nang organised a business roundtable titled “Da Nang: Nexus of Green Capital & Digital Finance” and had working sessions with international partners.

Calling for green capital and digital finance

The business roundtable took place on January 20 with the participation of leaders of Da Nang City, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and international financial institutions, technology firms, and global experts.

In his opening remarks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Anh Tuan praised Da Nang’s sideline events during the WEF meeting. He said the convergence of green and digital finance is shaping a modern, sustainable financial ecosystem and affirmed that Da Nang has strong locational advantages and special policy mechanisms to attract high-quality capital flows.

Alexander De Croo, former Prime Minister of Belgium and an Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, praised Vietnam’s move to establish an international financial centre as a channel for mobilising capital for sustainable infrastructure.

Similarly, Nobumitsu Hayashi, Governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, described Da Nang as a “core city” and pledged support for green transition projects toward carbon neutrality by 2050.

Delivering the opening remarks, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Ho Quang Buu said Da Nang seeks not only investment but long-term strategic partnerships, with science, technology and digital finance as key growth drivers.

The city aims to become a hub linking green capital and digital finance with the Asia-Pacific innovation ecosystem. Priority investment projects in transport infrastructure, semiconductors, AI and quantum technology were introduced, drawing strong interest from organisations including Citi Group, Vauban Fund, the Swiss FinTech Association, Cambridge Ventures and Tether.

Promoting cybersecurity cooperation and digital asset pilots

Earlier, the Da Nang delegation met with Yubico, a global leader in passwordless authentication, and the Crypto Economy Organisation.

The meeting focused on cooperation in cybersecurity, secure semiconductors, fintech and the development of a digital asset ecosystem aligned with plans for the Vietnam International Financial Centre in Da Nang.

The delegation later met with Coinbase, proposing that the firm share experience in market development and supervision, and provide policy advice for sandbox models supporting the financial centre’s growth.

Speaking at the meetings, Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu reaffirmed that science, technology and digital finance are key growth drivers for Da Nang. He also invited partners to attend the Economic, Financial and Technology Forum scheduled to be held in Da Nang in July 2026.
