Da Nang, Daegu sign MoU to expand multi-sector cooperation
DNO - Da Nang and South Korea’s Daegu City have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), marking a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral exchanges and expanding cooperation across a range of high-potential sectors.

On the morning of January 15, Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee and Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Pham Duc An hosted Kim Jung-ki, Acting Mayor of Daegu City, during his visit and working session in Da Nang.
At the meeting, leaders of the two cities formally signed the MoU aimed at promoting deeper and more substantive cooperation between the Da Nang municipal government and the Daegu city administration.
Under the agreement, both sides agreed to explore and implement new areas of collaboration.
These include the development of medical tourism based on Daegu’s “Medic City Daegu” infrastructure, healthcare and wellness tourism, information and communications technology, business networking, and collaboration in development planning and public policy.
The agreement also emphasizes human resource development, to be implemented through concrete support programs and joint initiatives.
Chairman Pham Duc An noted that following recent administrative restructuring, Da Nang now enjoys greater development space and stronger momentum to expand international cooperation, attract foreign investment, and promote trade, tourism, science and technology and innovation.
He highlighted that the city is actively calling for and implementing projects in sectors aligned with South Korean strengths, including semiconductors, electronic chips, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) applications for industrial zones and smart cities, gene and stem cell technologies, logistics and air logistics, pharmaceuticals, and the development of the Ngoc Linh ginseng brand.
South Korea remains one of Da Nang’s leading foreign investors. To date, the city hosts 345 South Korean-invested projects with total registered capital of approximately US$1.332 billion, mainly in manufacturing, garment production and services, ranking fourth among 45 countries and territories investing in Da Nang.

Building on a solid foundation of effective cooperation, Da Nang aims to further maintain and promote its partnership with Daegu in a practical and results-oriented manner, aligned with the capacities and development priorities of both cities.
For his part, Acting Mayor Kim Jung-ki said Da Nang shares many similarities with several South Korean cities and acknowledged the long-standing relationship between Daegu and Da Nang.
He stressed that cooperation between the two cities has delivered meaningful outcomes commensurate with their development potential, contributing to the broader Vietnam-South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Daegu will facilitate travel, work and residency opportunities for Vietnamese nationals in general, and residents of Da Nang in particular, to visit, do business and live in Daegu.
At the same time, the Daegu municipal government has committed to introducing potential investors to explore and invest in Da Nang in key strength sectors such as tourism, healthcare, trade and smart urban development.
