Da Nang City - South Korea cooperation in AI and smart camera applications

DNO - On January 12, the Da Nang Department of Science and Technology held a working session with Kyonggi University and CogniiOME to discuss digital transformation solutions leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and smart CCTV search systems.

Reported from the meeting, Da Nang is accelerating the use of smart technologies, including smart CCTV, in governance and operations.

As AI and big data advance, the city is building a phased roadmap with short-, medium- and long-term priorities, keeping a people-centred approach that improves public services and benefits residents.

The South Korean delegation praised Da Nang’s strategic direction. Professor Kwanghoon Kim introduced an AI and deep-learning solution that converts raw CCTV footage into searchable data via natural language queries, improving accessibility and use.

The delegation proposed exploring CCTV data management centres in Vietnam to strengthen international cooperation and enhance smart security infrastructure.

Later that afternoon, the South Korean delegation visited the Da Nang Innovation Start-up Support Centre, where representatives outlined the city’s 2026-2030 strategy to position Da Nang as Vietnam’s leading digital transformation hub. The city's key focuses include smart cities, semiconductors, and high-tech.

To attract investment, Da Nang offers three years of free rent at Software Park No. 2, tax breaks for AI start-ups, and legal support. A top priority remains strengthening university-industry links to ensure a sustainable ecosystem.
