Staycation has been emerging as an increasing trend because it is an easy way to take a break without travelling too far. It offers a fresh way to enjoy urban life while opening up sustainable development opportunities for local tourism.

Free from time pressure and the hassles of preparation, this form of travel aligns well with modern lifestyles, especially as people place increasing value on recharging and achieving a better work-life balance.

Ms. Vo Nguyen Ha, who works directly in travel booking services in Da Nang, noted that demand for staycation among local residents has increased significantly in recent years.

According to her, local travelers typically choose weekend packages lasting one day or one night, within a radius of 50 to 80 kilometers. Younger customers tend to make last-minute bookings through online platforms, while families prioritize resort space, amenities, and child-friendly services.

Most guests are less concerned with promotions and more focused on the quality of meals, accommodation, and the overall experience.

In response to this trend, many hotels and resorts in Da Nang have adjusted their products. The focus on introducing flexible staycation packages that provide just the right level of experience, while maintaining high quality, particularly targeting local customers. This approach not only helps sustain tourism during low tourist seasons but also reflects the increasingly improved quality of domestic resort services..

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, General Director of Furama Resort & Villas Da Nang, said that along with the urban development, hi-tech growth, and the influx of experts, Da Nang is gradually becoming an ideal place to work and live.

“The growth of staycation travel is not only a positive signal for the local tourism industry but also helps promote the ‘Vietnamese people prioritize Vietnamese products’ movement in the high-end accommodation sector. This, in turn, encourages domestic spending and optimizes local tourism resources” he noted.

Currently, with its expanded tourism development space, Da Nang has many favorable conditions to refresh and diversify staycation products.

Besides its advantages as a coastal city, Da Nang boasts ecological areas, rural villages, cultural heritage sites, traditional craft villages, nature- and history-linked destinations, and a rich culinary scene, making it ideal for short getaways for city dwellers. These familiar places, viewed from the perspective of a tourist, offer unique experiences and emotions.

Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Da Nang Tourism Association, believes that if organized in a structured manner by linking relaxation, experiences, cuisine, and culture within short travel distances, staycation will become a vital piece of Da Nang’s tourism landscape, enabling residents to relax, explore, and deepen their connection with the city they call home without having to travel far, he emphasized.
