Da Nang strengthens profile as Vietnam’s leading “City of Events”
DNO - With a dense calendar of cultural festivals and internationally scaled events, Da Nang is steadily consolidating its reputation as a “city of events".

In 2025, the city’s festival landscape has been marked by both continuity and expansion.
Events have been organised year-round and across diverse spaces, from urban centres and riverbanks to coastal areas and surrounding localities, creating a continuous “flow of events” embedded in everyday urban life.
Shaped by multiple cultural currents, Da Nang continues to leverage its role as a meeting point for regional and international cultures.
Traditional cultural festivals remain a cornerstone of the city’s events landscape.
Celebrations rooted in long-established communities and spiritual traditions, ranging from village festivals to religious observances, exist alongside traditional boat races that reflect the livelihoods and rhythms of coastal and riverside residents.
Collectively, these events help safeguard local identity while sustaining a strong sense of community engagement.

At the same time, international cultural exchange programmes have expanded both in scale and influence. Festivals and exchanges linking Vietnam with Japan, South Korea and the United States, alongside ASEAN cultural gatherings, have become familiar fixtures for residents and visitors alike.
These events not only offer vibrant cultural experiences but also project Da Nang’s image as an open, outward-looking city deeply integrated into regional and global networks.
Tourism-oriented festivals continue to serve as a defining pillar of Da Nang’s event-driven strategy. Foremost among them is the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival, which has matured into a globally recognisable signature for the city.
Held each summer, the festival draws hundreds of thousands of visitors and generates significant spillover effects across accommodation, services and consumer spending, reinforcing its role as a powerful catalyst for the local economy.
Da Nang has diversified its tourism offerings through festivals tied to cuisine, local products and regional experiences, helping to refresh visitor itineraries, extend length of stay and reduce seasonal fluctuations. This diversification reflects a deliberate strategy to move beyond peak-season tourism and foster more balanced, sustainable growth.
Another notable feature of the city’s 2025 events calendar is the rapid expansion of large-scale sports and entertainment events.
Da Nang continues to host internationally recognised competitions such as the IRONMAN 70.3 Da Nang, international marathons and emerging sports tournaments, reinforcing its appeal as a destination for sports tourism.
Contemporary entertainment events and major music programmes have further broadened the city’s reach among younger audiences and international visitors.

Cultural prestige has also been enhanced through cinema. The Da Nang Asian Film Festival was recently named among Vietnam’s top cultural, sports and tourism events of the year, contributing to the country’s growing presence on the regional film map while promoting cultural values through the language of cinema.
Looking ahead to 2026, Da Nang plans to further expand the festival ecosystem, with more than 50 events scheduled throughout the year.
The city aims to strengthen its identity as a dynamic, experience-rich destination aligned with global trends in cultural and sustainable tourism.
