DNO - A wide range of cultural and artistic activities are being held in Da Nang’s Hoi An until December 7 to mark the 26th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An Ancient Town and My Son Sanctuary as World Cultural Heritage sites (December 4, 1999 - 2025), and the 8th anniversary of Bai Choi art of Central Viet Nam being inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (December 7, 2017 - 2025).

Specifically, a series of communication campaigns, exhibitions and public displays in the ancient quarter are being organized to highlight the outstanding global values of Hoi An Ancient Town.
Also, findings related to archival materials, architecture, historical memory, and the urban identity of the ancient town, are being introduced at many thematic events.
Other outstanding activities include Japanese cultural experiences at the Japanese Culture Exhibition House, the launch of the thematic tour "Journey of Experience - Touching Heritage" at Hoi An’s specialized museums, and a program themed "Hoi An Bai Choi Art - Preservation and Promotion Efforts”.
In addition, a conference on the conservation and promotion of Hoi An Ancient Town’s World Cultural Heritage in the new context, and a gathering to commemorate the 26th anniversary of UNESCO’s recognition of Hoi An Ancient Town and the My Son Sanctuary as World Cultural Heritage sites, will take place at the Song Hoai Square on December 4.
Notably, entrance fees to the ancient quarter will be waived on December 4 as a gesture of appreciation to residents and visitors.
According to the representative of the Hoi An World Cultural Heritage Conservation Center, most of the activities are designed to be meaningful and closely aligned with community interests.
This reaffirms that Hoi An is not only a living heritage of Vietnam, but also a cultural space where both tangible and intangible heritage values are preserved by the consensus of the community and illuminated by the sustainable values of humanity.
