South Korea’s training ship visits Da Nang

DNO - South Korea’s helicopter training ship ROKS Hansando with 375 officers and sailors on board, commanded by Rear Admiral Hong Sang Yong, anchored at Da Nang’s Tien Sa Port on Tuesday, beginning a four-day friendly visit to the city.

Attending the welcome ceremony for the ship were representatives of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs, the Naval Region 3 Command, the Coast Guard Region 2 Command, the city’s Military Command, the municipal Border Guard Command, the Da Nang Port’s Border Guard Command, the Foreign Affairs Division of the Military Region 5 Command, and the Department of Foreign Affairs under the Ministry of National Defence.

The visit by the South Korean ship to Da Nang contributes to strengthening the friendship and mutual trust in line with the policy of promoting the Vietnam - South Korea Comprehensive Strategic Partnership which was upgraded in December 2022.

During their stay in Da Nang, the ship's commanding officers will pay courtesy visits to leaders of the Da Nang People's Committee, Military Region 5 and Naval Region 3, as well as participate in professional exchanges with the Vietnam People’s Navy.

In addition, the South Korean visitors will participate in sports exchange activities with Vietnamese naval officers and soldiers, and visit some of the city's popular tourist attractions.

They will also organize an art exchange program, and give gifts, school supplies and souvenirs to children at the Village of Hope.

ROKS Hansando is specially designed to provide training for naval officer cadets, equipped with classrooms, practice spaces, and essential training facilities.

The ship is capable of serving the daily life of about 120 crew members and more than 300 cadets. It is also equipped with modern medical and surgical rooms as a hospital ship when necessary.
