Da Nang centre and Hoi An capture hearts of Asian audiences in S.Korean film
DNO - The pristine beaches of Da Nang and the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An have unexpectedly taken center stage in the South Korean film ‘As You Stood By’, captivating audiences across Asia with cinematic visuals reminiscent of a dream.

As reported by Vietnamese media such as VNA and Znews, in the series of ‘As You Stood By’, two female characters leave behind their stagnant lives to seek solace in Da Nang, portrayed as a place of healing and reflection.
The production team dedicated significant screen time to showcasing Central Vietnam’s beauty, including the crystal-clear waters of My Khe Beach, captured with sweeping drone shots highlighting its graceful curves; the bustling the Con Market, accompanied by the distinct local voices; and the brightly lit city streets at the heart of Da Nang.
At night, the Hoi An ancient town glows under countless lanterns reflected in the Hoai River, creating one of the drama’s most memorable scenes.
Da Nang centre and Hoi An’s appearance in South Korean productions is not unprecedented.
Previously, Taxi Driver 2 drew attention with several key scenes filmed in Da Nang, including the iconic Dragon Bridge.
Action sequences set against the modern urban backdrop surprised South Korean viewers, who remarked that “Da Nang is more beautiful and modern than expected,” according to Vietnam Times.
Beyond film, South Korean reality programmes have frequently spotlighted these destinations. Members of TWICE filmed in Da Nang for Carefree Travellers.

The upcoming episode of South Korean programme ‘Are You Sure?’, featuring two members of BTS, was filmed in Vietnam and is scheduled to air later this year.
Previously, in 2023, the American Netflix film ‘A Tourist’s Guide to Love’ showcased Hoi An’s charm to international audiences.
Some Vietnam - India collaborative projects, such as Love in Vietnam, continue to highlight Vietnam's appeal on the regional cinematic map.
A representative from the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Center emphasized that frequent appearances in international productions enhance destination recognition, evoke positive emotions among viewers, and stimulate actual travel interest.
Each frame becomes a living postcard, reinforcing the reputation of Da Nang, including Hoi An, as premier “open-air film sets” in Southeast Asia.
