Leaving an impression on visitors

In early November 2025, while shopping at the Han Market, a tourist from Malaysia accidentally dropped his wallet containing all personal documents, and nearly VND 4 million and about 500 Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) in cash.

Upon receiving the report, the market’s security team immediately coordinated with small traders to check aisles and stalls where the visitor had passed. Shortly after, the wallet and all belongings were found and returned to the owner.

Earlier, in late August 2025, the market recorded a similar case involving an Indian tourist who had lost a mobile phone worth approximately VND 20 million.

Despite the language barrier, the market’s security officers still patiently exchanged information and searched for the lost item. After reviewing the camera footage and the surrounding area, the phone was quickly found and returned to the tourist.

Since the beginning of the year, Han Market’s security team has found and returned more than 10 lost items or forgotten property, with a total value exceeding VND 100 million.

To create an impression and encourage repeat visits from both domestic and international tourists, the market’s small traders constantly improve their professionalism, service quality, and commitment to maintaining commercial civility.

Traders always strictly follow regulations on traceability by attaching QR codes to products, clearly listing prices, and selling at the displayed prices to build trust among customers.

Along with transparency in products, a friendly attitude and communication skills are key factors in attracting and retaining tourists.

For international visitors, language barriers pose challenges, so many traders take the initiative to learn basic expressions in the languages of frequent tourist groups such as those from Thailand, the United States, South Korea, and China.

Towards building a "smile market"

During her first visit to the Han Market, Ms. Lucia Tran, an Australian tourist, shared that what impressed her most was the bustling atmosphere and the friendliness of traders.

“Nearly every vendor greets you with a warm smile. They welcome you sincerely, even if you’re only passing by. Many stalls also offer samples of local specialties without pressuring you to buy anything. We feel completely at ease, without any fear of being overcharged or mistreated, which makes shopping very pleasant” she said.

Currently, the Management Board of the market is developing a plan to implement a series of synchronous solutions with a focus on popularizing and spreading the spirit of the "Da Nang Smile" criteria among all staff members, traders and workers at the market.

In particular, the five key criteria are S - Safety, M - Manager, I - Integrity, L - Loyalty, and E - Environment.

According to Mr. Tran Van Dung, Deputy Head of the Han Market Management Board, the long-term goal is to turn the Han Market into a unique international tourism highlight right in the heart of Da Nang, where every visitor can experience genuine warmth, friendliness, and hospitality.
