Strategic growth driven by infrastructure investment
DNO - As the gateway to the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC), Da Nang city’s investment in logistics, industrial infrastructure, and digital platforms not only drives its own growth but also carries strategic importance for Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
Three pillars of infrastructure
According to the Department of Industry and Trade, Da Nang is prioritising three export-driven infrastructure pillars: logistics and seaports, high-tech industrial zones, and digital infrastructure, with logistics considered the core driver of its goal to become a leading maritime economic centre by 2030.
The city is strengthening its seaport system, including the planned Lien Chieu deep-sea port for ships up to 18,000 TEUs, Tien Sa as a major trade gateway, and upgrades at Chu Lai to handle 50,000-DWT vessels. Ky Ha port and Chu Lai airport are also being developed into regional logistics hubs. New logistics centres have opened at the Hi-Tech Park, Hoa Cam Industrial Park, and most recently a VND 722 billion Viettel Post project in Lien Chieu.
Da Nang is upgrading high-tech industrial zones to move from assembly to high value-added exports. The Da Nang Hi-Tech Park has attracted aerospace, semiconductor, precision engineering, and new-material projects, while Hoa Khanh and Lien Chieu industrial zones are being modernised into smart, green zones with integrated R&D.
Digital infrastructure, the backbone of the city’s digital economy, is also being enhanced through faster connectivity, streamlined procedures, and digitised customs operations.
Comprehensive investment for growth
The Da Nang Party Congress Resolution (2025 - 2030) and the city’s Strategic Growth Plan set the goal of transforming Da Nang into a major commercial hub with modern, synchronised infrastructure, serving as a regional centre for logistics, multimodal transport, and goods distribution across Central Vietnam and the Central Highlands.
The logistics sector alone is expected to contribute about 15% of the city’s GRDP.
The city plans to expand free trade and non-tariff zones, develop airport-linked industrial zones at Da Nang and Chu Lai airports, and upgrade its seaports (Lien Chieu, Tien Sa, Ky Ha, and Tam Hiep - Tam Hoa). Chu Lai port will be expanded into a container hub, while a new logistics centre at the Nam Giang Border Gate will boost trade with southern Laos and northeastern Thailand.
Lien Chieu port is designed as a smart, green transhipment port, located close to national highway and railway routes.
