Widespread heavy rain expected across Central Vietnam for a week
DNO - The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on Wednesday, provided early information on the possibility of a strong cold spell and widespread heavy rain across Central Vietnam from November 16 - 22, 2025.
Accordingly, a strong cold front is expected to affect northern and central Vietnam starting from November 16. The northern region and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh will experience cold weather, while frost may occur in the high mountainous areas of the north.
Due to the influence of strong cold air, the northern part of the East Sea (including the Hoang Sa Special Zone) will see strong northeast winds of level 7 with gusts of levels 9 - 10, waves of 3 - 5 meters, and rough seas. Meanwhile, in the Gulf of Tonkin, northeasterly winds of level 6 - 7 with gusts of level 8 - 9 are forecast, causing waves 2.5 - 3.5 meters high.
Starting from the night of November 15, as the strong cold air mass interacts with upper-level easterly disturbances, widespread heavy rain is expected to occur across the region from Quang Tri to Khanh Hoa for several days.
In particular, heavy to very heavy rain will concentrate in areas from Hue to Da Nang and the eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces.
Hazardous weather and hydrological conditions are likely to develop between November 16 and 22, 2025.
