Vietnam opens first-ever night-time museum experience
DNO - The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum has unveiled the first-ever night-time museum experience - “Museum Night” - offering the public a rare chance to explore art in a completely different light.
As reported by the Nhan Dan Newspaper at https://nhandan.vn/, running on a pilot basis from October 2025 to March 2026, the event take place on the last Friday of each month, each edition featuring a unique seasonal theme such as “Charming Autumn” (October), “Winter Tales of the Old Quarter” (November), and “December Memories” (December).
“If you explore art at night, you will see it differently. Beyond admiring beautiful paintings, visitors will hear the stories behind them and feel the harmony of classical music in the museum’s serene night space,” said Nguyen Anh Minh, the Director of the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum.
During “Museum Night,” guests can stroll through softly lit galleries, experience the iMuseum VFA audio guide, and watch artists sketch and paint in real time.
Visitors are also invited to take part in creative workshops, from making “do” paper lanterns to woodblock printing, bringing traditional art forms to life.
The programme also features talks with art experts and researchers, offering insight into 9 National Treasures and other remarkable pieces from Vietnam’s artistic heritage.
To complete the experience, the night includes live music performances and artist meet-ups, transforming the museum into a vibrant cultural stage.
Designed as a new night-time tourism product, “Museum Night” aims not only to inspire public interest in art and education but also to contribute to Vietnam’s growing creative and cultural industries.
Implemented through a flexible public-private partnership, the initiative is expected to become a highlight for both locals and visitors seeking a new way to experience the city — when the museum lights up and art comes alive.
