Da Nang leaders visit Attapeu (Laos)
DNO - During his working visit to Laos on October 27, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang city's Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh paid a courtesy call on Attapeu provincial leaders.

At the meeting, Standing Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh thanked Minaphone Xaysomphou, Deputy Secretary and Chairwoman of the Attapeu provincial People’s Council, for her warm welcome.
He briefed Attapeu’s leaders on the merger of Quang Nam and Da Nang, which has created a new city covering nearly 12,000km2 and sharing 157km of border with Laos’s Sekong province.

He highlighted Da Nang’s modern infrastructure, including two airports, four seaports, a free-trade zone, and an international financial centre, and noted its rich tourism assets such as Hoi An ancient town, My Son Sanctuary, and the Cu Lao Cham Biosphere Reserve.
Standing Deputy Secretary Nguyen Dinh Vinh emphasised Da Nang’s long-standing ties with Central and Southern Lao provinces, including Attapeu, and expressed the city’s commitment to deepening cooperation, leveraging its new geographical and administrative advantages.
He stated that Da Nang would fully uphold existing 2025 - 2027 commitments between Quang Nam and Attapeu, noting that the merger would strengthen, but not disrupt, bilateral relations.

He also announced Da Nang’s decision to raise scholarships for students from Attapeu and other Lao provinces from 50% to 100%, starting in the 2025 - 2026 academic year.
In reply, Minaphone Xaysomphou thanked Da Nang for its lasting support in healthcare and education and expressed hope that the Vietnam - Laos friendship and Da Nang - Attapeu partnership would remain strong and enduring.
