Ho The Anh, General Director of Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC, said the company had waited more than five years for the return of China Southern Airlines. He also expressed appreciation for the airline’s trust in choosing Da Nang as a destination in its recovery and route expansion plan.

The Shenzhen - Da Nang route, connecting one of the world’s leading economic and technology hubs, is expected to boost tourism and business travel, creating favourable conditions for visitors from Shenzhen to Central Vietnam and vice versa.

The flights also bring experts and investors seeking opportunities in Da Nang’s Free Trade Zone and International Financial Centre, serving as a bridge for trade and cultural exchange between the two cities.

According to Mairehaba Yisilayili, China Southern Airlines’ representative in Vietnam, Da Nang is an important gateway to Central Vietnam with beautiful landscapes and rich cultural heritage. The city remains a favourite destination for Chinese travellers.

Mairehaba Yisilayili also said the carrier operates more than 330 routes connecting over 40 countries and is expanding its global network linking Southeast Asia with Europe and the Americas. The Shenzhen - Da Nang route is expected to strengthen economic and tourism ties between the two sides.

China is a potential international tourist market for Da Nang.

According to Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of Da Nang’s Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, China was one of the city’s largest international tourist markets before 2020, with five regular and 29 charter routes. After China Southern resumed the Shenzhen - Da Nang service, Da Nang also welcomed the ADORA MEDITERRANEA cruise ship from Guangzhou carrying nearly 2,500 Chinese visitors.

Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh said this marked an important step in reviving the Chinese tourist market and that the city would continue enhancing services and diversifying tours under the theme “New Da Nang - New Experiences”.

Reportedly, in the first nine months of this year, Vietnam received over 15.4 million international visitors, up 21.5% year-on-year. China and South Korea remained the two largest markets, contributing nearly half of total arrivals.
