New dental clinic brings free care to children at Da Nang’s Village of Hope
DNO - Thanks to funding from the Global Village Foundation, a modern dental clinic worth VND 900 million has officially been put into operation at the Village of Hope, located at 209 Dung Si Thanh Khe, Thanh Khe Ward, Da Nang. Its aim is to offer free dental care to hearing-impaired and disadvantaged children.

Founded in 1993, the Village of Hope cares for and educates hundreds of orphans, hearing-impaired children and those in difficult circumstances.
It operates with funding from the East Meets West Foundation, led by renowned Vietnamese-American writer Le Ly Hayslip, and the Japan Democratic Women’s Association. Since 2008, the village has also received support from Unilever Vietnam.
Over the past decades, thanks to the long-term assistance of these organizations and numerous donors, nearly 1,000 children at the Village of Hope have been fully raised and educated from primary school through to university, college, or vocational training.
Continuing that humanitarian journey, in September 2024, Le Ly Hayslip and the Global Village Foundation raised nearly VND 900 million from domestic and foreign benefactors to build a modern dental clinic right in the campus of the village.
The clinic receives professional support from Dr. Pham Huu Loc, a Meritorious Doctor and former Head of the Odonto-Stomatology Department at the Da Nang C Hospital. Every week, he and his team conduct 3 - 4 free dental examination and treatment sessions for children.

Mr. Phan Thanh Vinh, Director of the Village of Hope, informed many children there suffer from dental problems but the village previously lacked resources for proper treatment.
He, therefore, emphasized "Having a modern dental clinic on-site, with regular checkups by professional doctors, is truly meaningful. I hope there will be more similar programs to help children overcome their difficulties and confidently integrate into the community”.
The Global Village Foundation is a continuation of the East Meets West Foundation. These two non-governmental organizations have been engaged in humanitarian and healthcare initiatives across Asia and Africa for nearly 40 years.
Currently, the Village of Hope is home to 121 orphans, hearing-impaired children and those in especially difficult circumstances. Here, the children live in a safe, clean, green, happy environment where they receive not only academic education but also moral guidance and essential life skills for a brighter future.
