As part of the 19th Vietnam - Singapore Connectivity Ministerial Meeting (CMM) in Ha Noi on Friday, the signing ceremony was witnessed by Vietnamese Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang and Singapore’s Second Minister for Trade and Industry and Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng.

Under the MoU, both parties will coordinate to apply technology and digital transformation, and implement initiatives in the transportation sector. These will include developing a post-storm road and traffic monitoring system using digital tools and big data, as well as promoting traffic safety initiatives including the “If you drink, don't drive” campaign.

Da Nang will create conditions and support Grab in helping digitize traditional transport services in the city while creating opportunities to increase income for local transport businesses and two-wheeler drivers through participation in the Grab platform.

To help Da Nang affirm its position on the regional and international tourism map, Grab will focus on digital transformation initiatives that promote local cuisine and specialties. Included will be providing digital tools to help small and micro food businesses improve operations and digitizing the city’s signature “Food Tour” program.

In addition, Grab will collaborate with Da Nang in organizing major cultural and social events, enhancing digital literacy among the community, and supporting local universities in training students in digital platforms, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI).

Both sides will work together to enhance training and improve digital skills for local workers, especially women, as well as to launch environmental initiatives towards sustainable development.

The cooperation with Grab reflects Da Nang's commitment to implementing major policies of the Party and Government on science, technology and innovation, especially promoting national digital transformation.

Through collaboration with Grab, a leading international technology company, the city aims to leverage digital platforms and expertise to deliver practical benefits for residents, businesses, and the community.

As part of the MoU, Grab and Da Nang agreed on an action plan for 2025 - 2026, prioritizing early-implementation initiatives such as a Da Nang tourism promotion conference, a technology and AI competition for local university students, an e-commerce forum for small and medium enterprises, and the planting of 20,000 trees in Phu Ninh protective forest.

The cooperation agreement between Grab and Da Nang will be implemented for 5 years, contributing to building a smart city and promoting the digital economy.
