Supporting the Co Tu to build green and circular economies
DNO- The project to improve Central Vietnamese women’s lives and protect natural resources through green and circular economy models is supporting the Co Tu community in Da Nang to develop sustainable livelihoods.
The project, funded by the EU with 27 billion VND (1 million EUR), is carried out from 2025 to 2028 in Son Tra, Hai Van, and Song Vang by the Da Nang Union of Science and Technology Associations, GreenViet, Visible Impact (Germany), and the Center for Social Development Research (CSDR).
In Song Vang commune, 8.7 billion VND will support women in developing green and circular livelihoods. Within a short time, local women have begun to develop livelihood ideas such as cultivating and processing vine tea (Ampelopsis cantoniensis), growing organic vegetables, and producing herbal products. Song Vang’s natural conditions are considered favorable for such sustainable models.
The project also offers training in green and circular economy practices, community development, and expert guidance, while establishing a support fund for women-led livelihoods. These efforts aim to boost incomes by 30%, create jobs, and embed green economy goals into local development plans.
Through community-based training, several women’s livelihood models have been developed, including recycling agricultural by-products, planting native species, community-based tourism in Co Tu villages, homestays with orchards and gardens, and traditional harvest festival performances.
These diverse initiatives are expected to improve living standards and promote local economic growth.
