Friendship exchange marks 50 years of Vietnam - Germany diplomatic ties
DNO - The Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations, and the Vietnam - Germany Friendship Association in the city, held a friendship exchange program on Tuesday to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the Vietnam - Germany diplomatic ties (September 23, 1975 - 2025).
Attending the event was municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Anh Thi.
During his speech delivered at the program, Mr. Nguyen Huu Lai, Chairman of the Vietnam - Germany Friendship Association in Da Nang, highlighted that cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in general, and Da Nang in particular, has become a model of partnership, mutual support, and shared development.
He added that the cooperation between Da Nang and German localities has witnessed positive progress in various spheres such as economics, healthcare and education.
German non-governmental organizations such as Malteser International, German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Association (DAHW), German Red Cross, Herz Fur Herz (Heart for Heart), BORDA, FZS and German Caritas have many contributions to the community in Da Nang in the fields of healthcare, public health, support for poor women, and education.
In addition, the city has received significant support from many German partners through many projects. Included are the project "Support for the development of Da Nang - Environmentally-friendly city" funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Rapid Planning project by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMFTR), the German language teaching project by The Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA), and training and medical expertise support for the Da Nang Cardiovascular Center from Herz für Herz.
The highlight of the exchange program was the talk show themed "Vietnam - Germany: 50 Years of Friendship and New Opportunities in People-to-People Exchange, Economy and Culture".
The discussion focused on the role of people-to-people diplomacy in strengthening relations between the two countries, prospects for boosting trade and investment cooperation between Da Nang and German partners, local businesses' experience in practical cooperation, and Germany’s cooperation orientations in politics, economics, education, vocational training, renewable energy and cultural exchange with Da Nang and Vietnam as a whole.
The friendship exchange program marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - Germany diplomatic ties was part of Da Nang’s plan for people-to-people diplomacy in 2025, approved by the municipal People's Committee.
The event aimed to foster people-to-people friendship, advertise the image of Da Nang to international friends, and tighten close cooperation between Vietnam and Germany in the new era.
