Da Nang seeks stronger cooperation and investment from Germany

DNO - Da Nang is looking to expand cooperation with partners from Germany in its priority aspects such as port urban areas, environment, logistics, supply chains and finance.

Vice Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Thi Anh Thi made the statement during her Tuesday reception for Ms. Andrea Maria Sühl, the Consul General of Germany in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vice Chairwoman Thi thanked Ms. Andrea Maria Sühl for accepting the invitation to attend the friendship exchange program marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Germany diplomatic ties, organized by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organizations.

She also expressed her delight at the positive progress in the cooperative relationships between Da Nang and German localities. Since 2019, four delegations of Da Nang leaders have visited Germany to strengthen cooperation and promote investment ties.

In particular, in May 2024, Da Nang and the German state of Thuringia signed a Memorandum of Understanding on establishing friendship and cooperation relations, with focus on key areas including investment, trade, human resource development, science and innovation.

Da Nang currently has 28 German-invested projects with a total registered capital of about US$ 671.4 million. German enterprises are prominent in the fields of metal components, plastic products, auto parts, textiles, software programming and publishing, management consulting, and tourism services.

In the first 8 months of 2025, Da Nang welcomed more than 127,000 German tourists, ranking among the city’s top 15 source markets.

Vice Chairwoman Thi voiced her hope that Consul General Andrea Maria Sühl will appeal for more German investors and enterprises to learn about and invest in Da Nang.

For her part, Consul General Andrea Maria Sühl affirmed that in the coming time, the German Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City will strengthen cooperation and actively connect German investors and enterprises with Da Nang, especially those with strengths in the city’s priority development fields.
