Da Nang student wins second prize at 2025 UPU International Letter-Writing Competition
DNO - Surpassing more than 1.6 million entries from 65 countries worldwide, Pham Doan Minh Khue, a 10th-grader at the Le Quy Don Senior High School for the Gifted in Da Nang, has won the second prize at the 54th edition of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) International Letter-writing Competition for Young People in 2025, as revealed by the UPU in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.

In her letter, Minh Khue took on the voice of the ocean in a screenplay titled “The Ocean’s Plea” addressed to renowned director James Cameron. She wrote as the ocean itself, expressing its pain over human neglect and destruction, and appealed to the filmmaker to create a movie powerful enough to awaken global awareness.
Her heartfelt message had earlier been selected as the national first-prize winner in Vietnam after surpassing more than 1.5 million entries from students nationwide.
The 54th edition of the UPU International Letter-writing Competition for Young People in 2025 attracted more than 1.6 million entries from 65 countries around the world.
The first prize was awarded to a female student from Türkiye. This is the 19th time Vietnam has had a student win the prize after 37 years of participation.
