Da Nang to host Asia’s largest Pickleball tournament for first time
DNO - The Professional Pickleball Association (PPA) Tour Asia - Vietnam will take place in Da Nang from September 30 to October 4.
As part of the professional circuit of the United Pickleball Association (UPA), the PPA Tour is recognized as the world’s most prestigious and competitive pickleball tournament.
For the first time, the PPA Tour Asia - Vietnam Cup 2025 will take place in Da Nang, marking the largest pickleball event in Asia in terms of prize money and number of participating athletes.
The tournament is jointly organized by America & Asia Connect Co., Ltd. (AAC), the Da Nang Pickleball Federation, and FPT Play, in collaboration with the United Pickleball Association Asia Pte (UPA Asia).
It is expected to draw more than 120 professional and 1,000 amateur players at both home and abroad.
The tour will feature the world’s top 10 elite players, including Ben Johns, Federico Staksrud, Anna Bright, Tyson McGuffin, Tyra Hurricane Black, Zoey Chao Yi Wang, Kaitlyn Christian, Alix Truong.
Notably, Ben Johns is a legendary Pickleball player, with more than 150 PPA Tour titles in the United States.
Vietnam’s top athletes will include Trinh Linh Giang, Ly Hoang Nam and Phuc Huynh.
Competitors will compete in singles and doubles divisions for a total cash prize of US$ 150,000. Pro players will also earn valuable points to boost their world rankings through strong performances at the tournament, the organizer said.
According to the organisers, the tournament is expected to not only promote sports tourism in Da Nang and Vietnam as a whole, but also boost the development of the Pickleball movement in the city.
It is also a valuable opportunity for amateur players in Da Nang to interact and practice with world-class professional athletes, thereby gaining inspiration and nurturing talents for this kind of sports.
Additionally, within the framework of the tournament, there will be booths showcasing equipment and local cuisine for spectators.
