APNIC 60 in Da Nang shapes future of global internet
DNO - The Asia-Pacific Network Information Center (APNIC) in partnership with the Vietnam Internet Network Information Center (VNNIC) under the Ministry of Science and Technology opened its 60th Member Conference (APNIC 60) at the Furama Resort Danang on Tuesday.
Taking place from September 4 to 11, APNIC 60 gathers more than 500 domestic and international delegates.
It features many in-depth seminars and discussions on the development of internet resource policies (IP, ASN) in the region, the orientation for global internet development and security, the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and artificial intelligence (AI), the advancement of next-generation IPv6 addresses, and training programmes on network administration and cybersecurity.
Also, there is the region's highest-level forum on internet connection via Internet Exchange (IX) points.
During the forum, VNNIC discusses and works with international IX points to exchange cooperation and foster investment in developing Vietnam’s national internet exchange (VNIX) according to new policies on management, provision and use of internet services and information, and the planning of information and communication infrastructure for the 2021 - 2030 period with a vision to 2050.
Additionally, VNNIC signs many Memorandums of Understanding on cooperation with national internet authorities from China, Malaysia, India and Japan.
According to Mr. Jia Rong Low, Director of APNIC, APNIC 60 in Da Nang highlights Vietnam’s central role in the Asia-Pacific internet community and creates opportunities for Vietnamese organizations and enterprises to cooperate with leading regional experts and businesses in internet resources and IX points.
Established in 1993, APNIC is one of the five global internet resource management organizations. It is responsible for allocating IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) in the Asia-Pacific region.
APNIC holds biannual conferences to develop internet resource policies.
Vietnam joined APNIC in 2003 when VNNIC was recognized as the country’s National Internet Registry (NIR). Over the years, VNNIC has actively taken on the role of Chair of the regional NIR forum.
Vietnam hosted APNIC 20 in 2005 in Ha Noi and APNIC 43 - APRICOT 2017 in Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2025, VNNIC once again earned the trust to host APNIC 60 in Da Nang.
