Taste of S. Korea in Hoi An’s ancient heart
DNO - The South Korean Food Festival 2025, held on September 6 - 7 in Hoi An, Da Nang, concluded with resounding success, drawing large crowds of both domestic and international visitors.

Far beyond a culinary showcase, the event became a vibrant cultural exchange that deepened the friendship between Da Nang and South Korean partners.
Visitors were treated to traditional dishes such as kimchi, kimbap, and refreshing mocktails, alongside engaging activities including live guitar and violin performances from South Korea, hands-on cooking sessions, bustling food stalls, and traditional art shows from Hoi An.
The fusion of South Korean flavours and the UNESCO-recognized charm of the ancient town created a unique cultural atmosphere.
For many, the experience went beyond food. “Eating South Korean dishes in the heart of the Ancient Town felt as if I was in Seoul. The chefs were warm and eager to explain ingredients and proper dining etiquette. It was not just a meal, but a cultural lesson", shared Le Thi Phuong, a tourist from the capital city of Ha Noi.

South Korean visitors also expressed heartfelt emotions. “It is moving to see Vietnamese and international guests enjoy our cuisine so warmly. This makes me realize how food can truly bridge cultures”, said Kim Joon-ho from Incheon.
Da Nang has long maintained close ties with South Korean cities such as Daegu, Busan, and Gwangju, with cooperation spanning tourism, education, and investment.
South Korea consistently ranks as the top source market for international tourists to the city, highlighting the significance of cultural initiatives like this festival.
According to the Hoi An Center for Cultural Heritage Management, the festival was not only a culinary journey but also a platform to strengthen Vietnam - South Korea friendship.

“Hoi An, a UNESCO Creative City, is becoming a hub for diverse cuisines, and South Korean gastronomy is playing an increasingly vital role,” a representative noted.
For organizers, the goal was clear: to bring South Korean cuisine closer to everyday life in Vietnam.
“From flavours to atmosphere, the festival was a celebration of connection, paving the way for deeper cooperation not just in food, but across tourism, education, and culture,” said Cho Sungbae, the Director of the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation in Ho Chi Minh City.
The South Korean Food Festival 2025 has reaffirmed itself as a cultural highlight and an irresistible destination experience for visitors to Hoi An, Da Nang.
