Before being appointed Vice Principal of the Quang Nam Academy International Bilingual School in 2022, Mr. Truong Cong Cuong had 11 years of teaching Physics at the Phan Boi Chau Senior High School in Huong Tra Ward.

To improve his skills, he pursued a master's degree in STEM education, completing the programme in just 1.5 years, six months less than the standard duration. He graduated as a valedictorian and defended his thesis with distinction.

In 2024, he was honoured with the Phan Chau Trinh Award for outstanding Master's degree holders by the People's Committee of Tam Ky City, former Quang Nam Province.

"I have a great passion for science and technology. When studying for my Master's degree, I was fortunate to receive valuable experiences from experts. Therefore, I want to widely spread STEM education so as to help students develop their capacity and promote their creative thinking," Mr. Cuong shared.

According to Mr. Cuong, in the context of strong AI development, STEM education is becoming even more suitable. Many Gen Z students access technology early and learn computer skills from a young age. Notably, the growing demand for high-quality human resources requires education to keep evolving.

“STEM will help students improve their critical thinking, problem-solving, self-study, teamwork and career orientation skills. These abilities are the basis for them to adapt to a variety of learning and working environments and conditions in the future” he said.

Currently, Mr. Cuong is the co-founder of the QN STEAM Life Skills Education Center which is one of the few private educational establishments in the city that train about how to use science, technology, and AI.

He also joins a research group of the Ministry of Education and Training, led by Associate Professor, Dr. Tuong Duy Hai, a lecturer at the Hanoi National University of Education, to find ways to use AI and science in teaching.

He is also often invited by the city's education sector to attend events to share his experiences about science and technology with teachers, judge science competitions, and help select teams for science and technology contests.
