Vietnam’s new visa waiver policy set to woo more international visitors
DNO - The Vietnamese government’s recent resolution granting visa exemptions to citizens of 12 more countries is considered a significant "push" to attract visitors from potential international markets to Vietnam in general and Da Nang in particular.

The resolution specifies visa exemption for citizens of Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Switzerland.
The exemption allows a temporary stay of up to 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type, provided they meet all entry requirements under Vietnamese law.
This visa exemption policy for these twelve European countries is in effect until August 14, 2028 under the Tourism Promotion and Development Programme.

Earlier, on March 7, 2025, the Vietnamese Government issued Resolution No. 44/NQ-CP on visa exemptions for citizens from Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Russia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
The continued visa exemption for many countries has created favorable conditions to attract more international visitors, especially as Da Nang enters the low season for domestic tourism.
According to tourism businesses, the expansion of visa policies contributes to enhancing the city’s competitiveness in attracting tourists compared to other countries in the region.
Notably, after the merger with Quang Nam, new Da Nang boasts has a diverse tourism product ecosystem. Currently, the city’s key international tourist markets are South Korea, Taiwan (China), China, the UK, Australia, Malaysia, India, France, and Thailand.
However, to attract and retain tourists for longer stays, Da Nang still needs to soon reinforce the appeal of destinations by integrating existing resources with local culture; professionalizing tourism products and services; improving the quality of tourism human resources; forming unique cultural experience products; and building product packages combining culture, cuisine and ecotourism tailored to each customer market.
