Da Nang - South Korea: A bright spot in local-level cooperation
DNO - South Korea has been identified as a key partner of Da Nang in the implementation of in-depth cooperation areas and the realization of long-term development goals.

The Viet Nam - South Korea relationship is currently in the best development stage since their diplomatic ties were established on December 22, 1992.
Based on that foundation, Da Nang has so far set up friendly and cooperative relations with 8 localities of South Korea, namely Changwon, Daegu, Osan, Hwaseong, Yongin, Gwangyang, Jeju and Pyeongtaek.
Recent years have witnessed fruitful results from cooperative programmes in various spheres between Da Nang and South Korean localities.
In particular, the ICT VINA Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of South Korea-invested Dentium Group, specializes in manufacturing dental medical equipment. It has poured US$ 257 million into the construction of two factories at the Da Nang High-Tech Park. It is currently building a third factory in the city.
Meanwhile, Pyeongtaek is home to one of South Korea’s five largest seaports and a major logistics hub. It is also known as the capital of the semiconductor industry. With its vision to become a high-tech, eco-friendly urban area, Pyeongtaek shares many similarities with Da Nang in development orientation.
Therefore, in the coming time, Pyeongtaek will promote strong cooperation and increase investment in Da Nang in various fields, especially information technology (IT), semiconductor industry, and tourism.
Local-level cooperation between Da Nang and South Korea is not only at the municipal level but also expands to wards, communes and departments.
The 10-year cooperative relationship between Nam Tra My, Da Nang and Hamyang District, South Korea, is a typical example.
From 2022 to August 2025, Nam Tra My has sent 181 seasonal workers to Hamyang District under the bilateral labor recruitment cooperation programme.
The two localities have carried out many exciting cooperation activities, such as organising 16 mutual working visits, and attending the Ginseng Festival hosted by the two localities.
Additionally, Hamyang District has also supported a number of social security projects in Nam Tra My Commune.
In the coming time, the two sides will continue to strengthen economic cooperation, especially in developing ginseng - a rare medicinal herb.
