The Golden Bridge (Cau Vang), a stunning architectural feat nestled in the Ba Na Hills is one of the most iconic attractions drawing international travellers to Da Nang.

In particular, Da Nang ranks among the top searched destinations, alongside Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi and Ha Long Bay, highlighting Viet Nam’s rising popularity among Australian travelers."

The article highlights Vietnam’s vibrant atmosphere, cultural richness, and excellent value compared to other international destinations.

Data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) revealed that Australian tourist arrivals to Vietnam in the first quarter of 2025 surged by 54% compared to the same period in 2019, the highest growth among all outbound destinations.

Nicole Newport, Regional Sales Director for Oceania at InsideAsia Tours, attributes the surge to Vietnam’s proximity to Australia and its diverse offerings.

Vietnam feels like several destinations in one, from ancient cities and bustling street markets to spectacular natural landscapes. More Australians are now looking for immersive cultural adventures, rather than conventional tourist holidays.

A favourable exchange rate further boosts Vietnam’s appeal. A spokesperson from Travel Money Oz noted that the Australian dollar has steadily appreciated against the Vietnamese dong, making travel expenses even more affordable.

Basic costs like a meal or a taxi ride typically range around 5 AUD, while a bottle of purified water is just 80 cents.

As reported by travel platform Klook, a 250% year-on-year increase in hotel bookings in Vietnam between March and June 2025.
