Viet Nam Zero Waste Tourism Network launched in Da Nang
DNO - The Viet Nam Zero Waste Tourism Network targets to incubate at least 100 pioneering tourism businesses which practice effective waste resource management by 2030.

The Interim Da Nang Tourism Association in collaboration with the Pacific Environment Viet Nam (PEVN) organized a workshop on Wednesday in Hoi An Dong Ward to launch the Viet Nam Zero Waste Tourism Network. The event attracted the participation of about 100 businesses citywide.

According to a report released at the workshop, since 2019, with the support of local authorities and non-governmental organizations, the former Quang Nam Tourism Association conducted surveys, organised training courses, visited and shared experience in practicing plastic waste reduction in the local tourism business community.
Through many meaningful and practical activities, 33 businesses and tourist attractions effectively approached the zero-waste tourism method and achieved green tourism certification.

The Viet Nam Zero Waste Tourism Network aims to incubate at least 100 pioneering businesses that practice effective waste resource management by 2030.
According to the orientation, members of the Viet Nam Zero Waste Tourism Network will also be pioneering businesses to achieve the goal of zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050, becoming reliable providers of sustainable tourism products and services in Viet Nam.
In his remarks at the workshop, Mr. Cao Tri Dung, Chairman of the Interim Da Nang Tourism Association, emphasized that the trend of developing green, community-based and zero-waste tourism is not only the long-standing and prominent practice in Hoi An but also the common concern of Da Nang, Viet Nam, and the community. This trend is being embraced by many businesses and travel agencies.
"We always support, accompany, and create the best conditions for businesses and travel agencies to develop sustainably. In the near future, the Association will upgrade the former Quang Nam Green Tourism Club into the Da Nang Green Tourism Association, which is the core force to implement many meaningful activities and solutions aimed at reducing waste and moving towards a zero waste goal.
With an area of 11,000 km2, Da Nang is the largest centrally governed city among the six in Viet Nam. Our tourism industry has many favorable conditions for development, especially developing green tourism, sustainable tourism, and reducing waste" Mr. Dung emphasized.

The workshop greatly contributed to promoting effective waste management at the business and destination levels. This was also an opportunity for the business community with the same concern for environmental issues to share difficulties and experience in managing and reducing waste at the facility.
The event offered the chance for local partners to present technical solutions for treating organic waste, low-value plastic waste, environmentally friendly alternative products, and reusing models, and at the same time to introduce waste reduction solutions to the community and tourism businesses for the sustainable development.
