With its rare terrain that blends sea, rivers, and mountains, and features the harmonious combination of wildness and modern infrastructure, Da Nang is becoming the priority choice for many film projects of all genres from romance and action to documentaries and travel features.

In recent years, a series of famous works have brought the image of Da Nang to the big and small screens, awing audiences worldwide. These have included “Love You Regardless” (2018), the Vietnamese remake of “My Sassy Girl” with a romantic beach scene, and the Hollywood action blockbuster “The Protégé” (2021) showing off the brilliant Dragon Bridge and the city’s modern international airport.

In 2023, Vietnamese audiences were proud when “Taxi Driver 2”, a popular Korean TV series, featured streets along the Han River and the Dragon Bridge in its trailer. “A Tourist’s Guide to Love” (2023), Netflix’s first feature film shot in Viet Nam, celebrated the beauty of Da Nang’s beaches and ancient landscapes in every frame.

From initial successes, filmmakers have gradually realized Da Nang as a cinematic treasure trove, where every location offers unique and emotional frames.

Specifically, the Dragon Bridge, a unique steel bridge simulating the image of a Ly Dynasty dragon crossing the Han River, is a typical example. The bridge lights up at night, and on weekends, it breathes fire and sprays water with special visual effects creating vibrant footage.

Meanwhile, the new Da Nang Museum, located at 42 Bach Dang, features an ancient and modern architecture. Covering an area of over 8,600m², the venue showcases local historical and cultural heritage that is very suitable for nostalgic scenes or documentaries about the city.

Other remarkable locations include the Marble Mountains - a cluster of 5 marble and limestone mountains lying close to the sea; Hoa Bac - a peaceful suburb northwest of the city that is highlighted by the Cu De River winding between deep green mountains; and Son Tra Peninsula - an over 4,400ha “green lung” and home to Viet Nam’s only coastal primary forest and the rare red-shanked douc langur.

Along with the development of sustainable tourism, Da Nang is demonstrating its potential to become a famous outdoor film studio in Asia. The biggest difference between the city and many other destinations is the diverse combination: from modern streets, convenient infrastructure to pristine natural landscapes, all just a few dozen minutes away.

In reality, Da Nang is attracting an increasing number of international film crews thanks to its superior natural conditions, open policies and professional service human resources. Beautiful scenes filmed at the Dragon Bridge, the My Khe Beach, the Ba Na Hills or Son Tra Peninsula have gone viral on online platforms and social networks, thereby contributing to promoting the image of Da Nang globally.

With the orientation of promoting tourism, culture and cinema, the city is converging all the factors to become a "golden destination" for film projects. Each architectural work or each natural heritage has its own story and appeal, just waiting for filmmakers to discover and tell on screen.

When beautiful footage of Da Nang continues to conquer audiences around the world, it is not only a success for cinema but also an opportunity for international friends to better understand Viet Nam, a young country rich in identity and full of vitality.
