Viet Nam welcomes nearly 10.7 million international tourists in first half of 2025
Viet Nam welcomed nearly 10.7 million international visitors in the first half of 2025, fulfilling about 50% of the year’s tourism growth target. This figure marks a 20.7% increase year-on-year and a 25.7% rise compared to the same period in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the General Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance.

China and South Korea remained Viet Nam’s two largest tourist source markets, contributing 2.7 million (25.6%) and 2.2 million (20.7%) arrivals respectively. Other top markets included Taiwan (China), the U.S., Japan, Cambodia, India, Australia, Malaysia and Russia.
In particular, January and March recorded the highest monthly arrivals (over 2 million each), while June saw the lowest at around 1.46 million.
The May edition of the World Tourism Barometer published by the United Nations Tourism Organisation (UN Tourism) revealed that in the first quarter of this year, Viet Nam recorded the sixth-highest growth in international arrivals worldwide, up 30% from the same period in 2024. Within the Asia - Pacific region, Viet Nam ranked first, followed by Japan and the Republic of Palau.
Bloomberg reported that Viet Nam has emerged as the third most-visited country in Southeast Asia, with 17.5 million international visitors last year , surpassing Singapore and trailing only Malaysia (25 million visitors) and Thailand (35 million visitors).
In Da Nang, the tourism sector served 3.74 million international overnight visitors in the first half of 2025, a 25% increase over the same period in 2024.
